The cuisine of Andhra Pradesh is known for its use of spices and variety. Apart from the traditional Andhra cuisine you will also find an influence of the Mughlai flavors in some of its dishes, especially if you are eating at Hyderabad. The traditional cuisine seems to be more hot and spicy and each dish have something unique it its own nature. Be it lunch, dinner, or breakfast, you will find variety in each one of them. In keeping with the South Indian tradition, rice and sambar are the staple diet of the resident of Andhra Pradesh. You will also find lentil and vegetables served with this. Hot pickles and cooling curd will accompany a traditional Andhra meal.
"Pulihara" (tamarind rice) is known to be the main food of Andhra Pradesh. Green chilies, green vegetables, and hot and spicy non-veg preparations also form a part of the Andhra meal. Due to its proximity to the sea, seafood also occupies a substantial part of the Andhra cuisine. When it comes to seafood, you will find fish and prawns prepared in coconut oils, and flavored with ground pepper. Fish curries are usually eaten with rice. The famous South Indian Idli and Dosa can be seen in all eat-outs and restaurants. However, a dish called 'Pesarattu' seems to be more popular in Andhra Pradesh.
