Paneer Recipes

Paneer is otherwise known as Indian cottage cheese which is made out of butter milk, lime juice and vinegar. Paneer recipes are one of the very traditional Indian recipes and this recipe has got a lot to say about Indian culture and traditions. One of the greatest peculiarities of paneer is that, paneer is an absolutely vegetarian dish and is particularly seen in the Indian sub continent. Some of the south Asian countries also serve this as a great cheese. Why paneer becomes purely vegetarian is just because it does not contain the element known as rennet which is commonly found in other dishes.

Because of the reason that paneer recipes are purely vegetarian, it is a very good item for Buddhists, a religious community in India. The paneer recipes are available at stores as well. But, the paneer cheeses that are available at stores can be found a lot thicker than the home made paneer. This is because of the presence of corn starch in shop made paneer. Apart from that, the home made paneer is found to be much sweeter than the shop made ones. The varieties in which paneer dishes are available include Shahi paneer, malai kofta, matar paneer etc.
