Spicy Gujarati Food


Tradition starts with the food items you eat. Every religion has different eating habits and tastes. Gujarati food follows different tradition and style in preparation of food items. Gujarati food is mostly vegetarian and has high nutritional facts. Gujarati food is prepared in special dishes and has unique taste compared to any other food.

Traditional Gujarati food constitutes roti, kadhi or dal, shaak or sabzi and rice. People eat the combinations of any of these two curries along with roti and rice. Gujarati food is known for its sweetness, lot of sweet ingredients is used while preparing Gujarati dishes. These foods are prepared in hygienic environment and in a special way, such that the powerful food nutrients do not get lost.

Besides special Gujarati food items, staple food items are also prepared by Gujarati people. Their staple food items include homemade pickles, salad and buttermilk (chhas). Famous Gujarati food recipes include Chakli, masala puri, Shri kand, Daal Parantha, Dal Dhokli, and Khandvi,etc. Gujarati people love curd and cool drinks made from curd. Lassi is their most common favorite health drink preferred in the summer. Gujarati cuisines are seasonal. The recipes are developed based on the vegetables available in the market. In the summer season black pepper is used in low levels in preparing food items so that the heat in the body does not rise.
