Stainless Steel Plate

Stainless Steel Plate The true Indian style of eating involves squatting on the floor and eating off a plate made of either big plantain leaves or some metal. Earlier, people used brass, copper, and even gold and silver plates to eat from. However, with time, the trend changed to steel and stainless steel and even aluminum. The shift took place mainly because of the heavy maintenance that brass, copper and silver demanded. Regular cleaning and special preservation methods made the modern Indian turn to the versatility of steel. However, the metal plates are seen displayed in many Indian homes, even if they are not used regularly. Their presence adds to the aesthetic appeal of the kitchen.

Steel plates are very commonly used in the Indian kitchen. They are also used to cover utensils holding food and to keep ingredients for cooking. Traditionally, the plate is used to eat food. Steel is low on maintenance and very durable. This makes it a wise buy. The metal sparkles when cleaned well and immediately shows signs of grease and residue. This ensures proper cleaning. Steel plates are also very easy to stack. There are special steel and aluminum racks designed to stack these plates. It is not uncommon to see the Indian family turn back to the traditional steel plate to eat from when guests are not around. In many parts of the country, the plates are used irrespective of whether outsiders are present at the meal or not.

A number of restaurants promoting traditional Indian food also serve in these plates to add to the ambience and appeal. The plates are designed to hold food, both dry and liquid. The deep, bordered design enables holding semi liquid and liquid food stuff in it. Stainless steel plates are a common sight at road-side stalls. They are the best ware when handling children. They do not break and are safe due to well-rounded edges. The plates are ideal to take along on a family picnic and while traveling. They are a common sight at Indian rituals and ceremonies too. Steel plates can withstand harsh handling. They can be put to multiple uses and cleaned easily, with liquid or solid cleaning agents. They offer a sparkle in the kitchen and bring a smile to the baby as he catches a glimpse of himself in the natural 'mirror'.

Stainless steel plates are used in homes across India. They may differ in size or shape, but the use remains the same.
