Steel Cup Measure

Stainless Steel Liquid Container The Indian home is unique in appeal on account of the different types of utensils and storage units one can spot within. One important and very versatile utensil is the cup-measure. The steel cup measure is a variant of the original ones made from brass, copper and other alloys. The measure has even witnessed a shift from the kitchen to the bathroom. It is also used to hold water while brushing teeth and bathe the little ones. However, in the kitchen, the steel cup measure is used for measuring grain and lentils, water for cooking, holding yogurt or butter-milk and even removing quantities of cooked gravies into a serving dish. The steel cup measure is also used to remove water from the traditional earthen water pots, into a glass made of the same metal.

The uses are varied and a lot depends on where the steel cup measure is to be used. It is easy to clean and stack. A single nail suffices the purpose. The steel cup measure is commonly used in the Indian kitchen to measure quantities of dry and wet ingredients. This traditional measure comes in various sizes. While the regular kitchen may not require very large steel cup measures, hotels and restaurants bank on the larger varieties. The cup is very easily wiped and kept away, if it is only used for measuring dry items. In the case of wet ingredients, it can be washed clean with any solid or liquid cleaning agent. Steel cup measures are easily available in the Indian bazaar or market. In time, on account of their durability, they become family heirlooms in good time.

Steel cup measures are also used as mugs in extreme cases. They are very versatile in use, in and out of the kitchen. There are a number of Indian hotels and restaurants that display the cups for aesthetic appeal. They are safe around children. They have rounded edges and the metal is non-toxic. They serve outdoors too, especially at picnics and while traveling. But, getting down to the use of the cup or measure in the kitchen, another use that it is put to is serve hot or cold beverages. It is a common sight at dhabas, the road side restaurants and homes for this very reason. The vessel resembles a cup or mug, but while in modern times, these similarities can be confining, in the case of the steel measuring cup, the shape adds versatility.
